Established in early 2018, this website has been created to assist International Paramedics who are interested in moving to British Columbia and now Canada. Following the presentation of our website at PACE 2019, the Canadian Organisation of Paramedic Regulators (COPR) incorporated many of our features into their new website released in December 2019 as part of a new Canadian application process for paramedics.
Paramedic licenses are issued by each individual province, so it’s important to understand each of the provinces requirements. To transfer your Paramedic license/registration, you will need to make a submission of your education and clinical experience for review to COPR with supporting documents and other requirements. Our site is intended as an open source guide to provide advice, share ours other others experience as well as an assessment tool for gap analysis – Neither author has any affiliation with the EMALB, COPR or any regulators.
Here you will find information and resources which will support you through your licensing application and move to British Columbia or Canada. The competency review section will provide a quick overview of how your training and the evidence you plan to submit compares against the requirements for COPR. By using this software, you will be able to assess your own competencies via gap analysis and gather together supporting information to reduce unnecessary delays in processing by submitting a comprehensive application the first time.
If there are gaps in your application, then check our resources page. Here we have collated, and continue to update, resources which we or others have found useful in addressing common gaps in applications from Australia, the United Kingdom, Ireland and South Africa. You can use these to complete any gaps, if identified as well as producing your own evidence of meeting the NOCP requirements.
You will also find information on immigration and support services, career opportunities, professional bodies and associations, and information relating to other employment requirements, such as driving licence and training. Some of these are specific to each province and some are more general. As more and more people make the leap, they share their journey and we update the site.
This site is being run, hosted and developed by the two authors who are wanting to support others on their journey and to improve the experience of moving to Canada as a Paramedic. If you have found this site useful and helpful in any way, please consider a small donation to enable the upkeep and hosting of this site. It would be greatly appreciated!
Good luck on your journey!!
