Each section below will take you through an NOCP assessment tool which will provide you with a results page. Compare your answers against the accepted COPR answers to gain a better understanding of whether your application will be successful. In general – not every area must meet the required competency outside of clinical skills. However, the more areas in which you meet the requirements, the stronger your application will be. We recommend endeavouring to meet as many competencies as possible prior to your first submission to COPR. If you identify any gaps, please check out the resources page, where you may find supporting documentation for submission. Once you have undertaken education, you should be able to meet the competency.
If you identify a large number of gaps for ACP and you are unable to meet the required competencies found in your gap analysis, then you could apply for a PCP license using the same process.
Please note, that in the appendix section, you will find a list of the medications from the NOCPs which ACPs must be familiar with. These are specifically referenced in 5.8.a of the Prior Learning Equivalency Assessment, “Recognize principles of pharmacology as applied to the medications listed in Appendix 5”. The medications in brackets are for your reference, rather than the exact medications required.
You must have been educated and assessed on these medications. If you have identified any Gaps in your medication education, see the resources section for a template of an appropriate paper addressing this gap which you will need to include as part of your submission.
